It was intersting that when the riots started in London the media tried to blame it on the police shooting by the Met. Well, actually on the fact that they didn't give the family enough information. It is not so much what they say, but how they say it, and how they imply everything is the fault of the police or the government or anyone in authority. It is little wonder people on the edge go over the edge when they hear most of the media, including the BBC, trying to justify what they have done. Basically there is NO justification for the violence we have seen.
It seems in recent days they have discovered that the majority of the public take a different voew, and maybe it is time not to give so much credence to the 'vocal minority' The public is fed up with this, we all know it all started going wrong 15-20 years ago when parents were no longer able to discipline their children without fear of being arrested or villified. Apparantly, they told us 'smacking a child is violence, and violence breeds violence'. Well, we have tried it the 'do gooders' way, and we now seem to have the most violent youth we have ever seen.
Time I think now to allow parents to regain control of their kids, and support them. Also, allow the teachers and the police to be able discipline the kids, in fact promote discipline in the home and the school, that is where the kids should learn about rules and manners.
Please, pleaseplease let us get back to a society and kids we can be proud of. The media is turning, they are starting to see the light at last. This is obviously all just my opinion, but I hope many others agree with it.
