Hello....

....from Cumbria. former civvy/Special, now nearly 3 years in. Living the dream, loving the job, hating the shifts, infuriated by unnecessary bureaucracy and senior management who are out of touch and implementing stupid ideas simply to go towards their next promotion....!!!

Funny that, it's exactly the same most places, and always has been since my day.

One inspector told me that some of them resurrect old innitiatives (even if they didn't work last time) revamp them by changing the name and a few details, and get them implemented hoping for a promotion on the back of all the 'hard work' they have put in coming up with the new bright idea (old re-cycles failure) and then get promoted as the boss knows they are useless so gives them a glowing write up so they can get promoted and get moved out of his area.  The new inspector then trawls through all the old broken initiatives, everyting changes direction yet again, and so it goes on.

I remember one boss who was so useless he never got the area sickness figures compiled each month, he had a problem with the spreadsheets, and it never got done.  Everyone knew he wasn't submitting the returns to HQ.

A year later the area got an award for the best sickness improvemt figures in the force, tea and bikkys with the chief for the area commander, congratulations all round.  They all knew on area though, still took the praise. :o
